New Zealand

  • Language: English and Māori.
  • Currency: New Zealand dollar ($).
  • Clothing: Modern Western. Causal and comfortable clothing, as well as business attire. New Zealand is well known for its outdoor activities, so athletic attire, layered clothing, swim wear, and hiking shoes are recommended. UV rays are very strong in New Zealand, so sunglasses and SPF are necessary.
  • Etiquette: Tipping is not required. Calling someone a "Kiwi" is not an offensive thing to do. New Zealanders often refer to themselves as "Kiwis." The Māori people often have their own etiquette standards. For more information, check out HakaTours post.
  • Names: First names are often used after introductions.
  • Don't: make the "peace sign" as it is considered highly offensive. Don't sit on tables or pillows.
