- Language: Serbo-Croatian.
- Currency: Croatian kuna (kn).
- Clothing: Modern Western. Religious sites require more covering clothing. Sailing is a common activity, so a bathing suit and casual covering layers are great.
- Etiquette: Be sure to remember that Croatia is its own country and you should refer to it as so. Friends and family greet one another with a kiss on each cheek. If you're going out to eat, whoever does the inviting does the paying, and vice versa the following time.
- Names: Use title and last name until invited to do otherwise.
- Don't: forget to keep an eye out for unexploded mine sites. These are very dangerous and you should stick to designated paths and watch out for warning signs if heading out on your own. Don't be late, punctuality is important as is clear and direct communication.
